“Ekon” is an outstanding competition dog, out of our dam "Luna" (the UKC’s first Dutch Shepherd SUPERDOG who was also the first dog of any breed to title in every UKC all-breed performance event) and our superior stud dog “Lothar”, sire of 25 Police K-9s.
Ekon would have made an exceptional Police K-9 as well, but after he was returned to us as a puppy because "he lacked drive" (although it’s impossible for us to see what drive he’s lacking!), Cher Car Kennels co-owner Lori Webster recognized his tremendous potential and kept him as her personal competition dog. He is agile, has tremendous ball drive, is strong and powerful with the decoy and loves dock diving and nosework.
Ekon enjoys competing in UKC nosework and has accumulated 21 nosework titles to date, earning Multiple High-in-Trial awards along the way. He is also titled in UKC Rally Obedience, holds multiple Dock Jumping titles in fetch-it and catch-it, and is a Champion Master Jumper!
What Ekon loves to do more than anything is bitework and although he has been an outstanding performer in many personal protection tournaments over the last few years, Lori is now training him for French Ring.
We really like Ekon's muscular frame and masculine head. He is a joy to work with, very biddable, never tough to the handler. We are very excited to see what this boy does to continue our traditions here!
