We regularly ship puppies to our buyers by ailrline. All animals are accompanied by a required Department of Agriculture health certificate upon shipment. However, there are a few considerations.
1) We only ship out of Capital Region International Airport in Lansing, Michigan which is located 16 miles from the kennel. We have a fantastic rapport with the Lansing airport and are given special consideration with exclusive availability to ship in the early morning hours before the airport cargo department officially opens, in an attempt to ensure a puppy will arrive at its destination BEFORE the heat of the day.
Detroit Metro (the other Michigan airport) is 115 miles away and at least a 2 hour drive from our kennel (without traffic complications) and the additional time necessary to deal with an airport the size of Detroit would require us to take a full day away from the kennel to facilitate shipment of a puppy. More concerning to us is the welfare of the puppy, as the long car ride to Detroit (during which the puppy inevitably becomes carsick) is more stressful than the 50 minute airline flight from Lansing to Detroit for a connecting flight to the final destination address. We hope you understand that we feel strongly about the wellbeing of this precious cargo, and therefore do not ship out of Detroit as we do not believe it is in the best interest of the puppies.
IN THE RARE OCCASION that you request we travel to Detroit to ship your dog, you must pay an additional $300.00 fee for travel and time away from business costs. This $300.00 is in addition to any cost for shipping charged by the airlines.
2) We will purchase a suitable shipping crate for you. The cost will vary, according to the size of the pup or adult you are purchasing. The price of the crate will be calculated into the total of your final payment. No pup or adult will be shipped without the crate being paid for. You will own the crate upon its arrival.
3) Puppies must be 8 weeks of age before they can be shipped. Temperature restrictions are in place (it must be above 20° and below 80°) and are based on the actual or forecasted temperature upon departure, transfer (if applicable) and arrival at each station on the itinerary.
4) Payment for shipping your puppy (airfare, shipping crate and required Department of Agriculture Health Certificate) will be included in the calculation of your final payment for the purchase of your puppy. This total amount must be prepaid by WIRE TRANSFER prior to shipping. You will be notified of the total costs and receive an itinerary for your puppy's flight in advance of shipping. We cannot accept personal checks, cashier's checks or money orders for these final costs.
